Penelope House is a nonprofit organization in Mobile, Alabama that provides safety, shelter, and support for victims of domestic violence and their children. The organization helps individuals escape abusive situations and begin rebuilding their lives in a safe environment.
Founded in 1979, Penelope House offers emergency shelter, a 24-hour crisis hotline, counseling, advocacy, and other support services for people experiencing intimate partner violence. The organization also helps victims access community resources, legal support, and education programs that promote long-term safety and independence.
In addition to providing shelter, Penelope House works to prevent domestic violence through community education, outreach programs, and awareness initiatives across several counties in southwest Alabama, including Mobile, Washington, Clarke, and Choctaw counties.
